Savusavu (Vanua Levu Island) – this is a town in the Fijian Province of Cakaudrove. The town is located on the south coast of Vanua Levu Island – Fiji’s second main island (northwest of Fiji Island) and had a population of 3,372 in the 2007 census. Savusavu is known as “the hidden paradise of Fiji.” Savusau is a relaxed, beach-style town with a cool waterfront vibe, friendly faces everywhere and plenty of things to do. It’s also one of the best places to go scuba diving in Fiji due to the thriving colorful soft coral.

For nature lovers visiting Savusavu, there’s the Flora Tropica Gardens. This botanical garden looks out to Savusavu Bay and has a palm collection of over 300 species of palms from around the world! Along with that, there’s also the Waisali Rainforest Reserve (a 120 hectare reserve with stunning flora and fauna). In addition, there’s the Nakawaga Waterfall (a 20-minute drive outside of Savusavu) (note: It takes about 20 minutes to walk through a bit of jungle to find the waterfall). For those wanting a thermal bath, there’s Savusavu Medical Centre (which has three healing spa baths — available for FJ$15 for a soak.
